A Note Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026

A Note is a to-do app for Android made by Wits Forge ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information.

Data stored on your phone

Tasks, groups, notes, tags, links, due dates, time estimates, attached files and voice notes are saved in the app's private storage on your device. We cannot see them.

If you turn on the app lock, the lock setting is kept in Android's secure storage. A pattern is stored only as a salted hash, never as the pattern itself. Fingerprint and face unlock are handled by Android; the app never receives your biometric data.

Android may include the app's data in your device backup to your Google account, depending on your phone's backup settings. That backup is managed by Google under your Android settings.

Google sign-in (optional)

Signing in is needed only for cloud backup. When you sign in, Google and Firebase Authentication provide the app with your name, email address, profile photo and an account ID. These are used to identify your backup and to show who is signed in.

Cloud backup (optional)

When you tap Backup, a copy of your tasks, groups, notes, tags, links, dates and Trash is uploaded to Google Cloud Firestore and stored under your account ID. Attached files and voice notes are not uploaded; only their names and locations on your phone are included. Each new backup replaces the previous one. Restore downloads your latest backup to the phone.

Firebase is operated by Google. See the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase privacy information.
